POEM DAMN YOU! FROM "TWO POETS"
damn you
why do you enter my life now?
why not when I was young
when my skin was fair
no wrinkles there
when my hair was black as coal
damn you
Why did you enter my life now?
now that the wrinkles show
now when my hair is more silver than black
now where there is no hope
long since a marriage gone bad
long since the children we could have had
are lost in the winds of time
damn you
why do you enter my life now?
is it to mock me
how can someone so fine enter my life now
now that there is so little time
damn you
you could not know how much I would love you
for maybe then you wouldn't have brought your love to bear
damn you
I never wanted and loved so much
to hunger for a gentle touch to cry in the night
of lonely dreams
Damn you
