SURRENDER

Her green eyes glittered
he was left wanting:
who is she?
Why does she haunt my dreams?
He awoke with a start!
And looked around the room
a breeze swept across from the window
as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes
he had dreamt of her for a fortnight
and still no peace of mind.
Was she just a will-o'-the-wisp?
Or an angel?
He asked with wondering
his need so intense
he had to find her before he lost his mind.
0h ye, of little faith
the voice whispered in his ear, surrender
Believe, it said, she is yours.
It shall be.
How can I know he cried?
She is but a dream
Have faith the voice whispered.
For if you have faith there will be no questions
but without it there will be no answers.

A BITTER SKY OF GRAY

a bitter sky of    gray
A sandy beach below
two people hand in  hand
walk very slow
a distant moon begins
the sun descends once more
and though we feel there their love
we know it's not like before

Too many words that hurt the heart
too many tears tore them apart
too many fears to overcome
before the night is done
she wonders why can't he understand
her needs are small
he could hold them in his hand

He wonders why she doesn't know
he's just a man who loves her so

But words get in the way
of the essence of the heart
and no matter what is said it doesn't change
the picture sky of gray
a bitter sky of gray
Faces wet with tears and ocean spray
He holds her hands in his
He longs to say,” I love you”
She pulls away and walks ahead
so all alone, his words left unsaid
Please don't go his heart cries out
But in his silence, love dies
Beneath the bitter sky of gray

EQUAL PAY DAY

Next Tuesday, April 9, is Equal Pay Day, marking the additional number of days in 2013 a woman must work to make as much as a man makes for the same work – an unacceptable 92 days.
