GUNS

It  is beyond my comprehension why anyone needs to possess a gun
 or any weapon for that matter. How can it be possible that we have taught our children to hunt and  shoot innocent animals who cannot defend themselves. When the founding fathers wrote
 giving us the right to bear arms  they were doing so to allow us to defend ourselves from enemies.  We were at war within our own borders and had an enemy that was terrifying us and terrorizing us, there would be a reason that would make sense to have a weapon; but we are not at war within  our borders.we are no longer fighting the British.   but sadly we are at war with each other. Children are dying. Like so many parables written in the Bible THAT are now to be taken as suggestions, rather than literally,We no longer need  to shoot  animals to feed ourselves, or baptize with fire, That time in our lives is over. We only need to go to the corner market to get food we need and hopefully can afford. It just doesn't make sense. There is no need for guns in  every household; that is frightening to me. And should be to you. The NRA is a powerful lobby Washington DC over 4 million members that's 4,000,000 guns my only question is why why why. Please allow our president to act on our behalf and BAN assault weapons let Washington know who is boss and who pays their salary let your voice be heard.

Living Backstreet

In 1933 my father was an entrepeneur of sorts and in his own way famous for being able to survive the depression by becoming Moon Mullins, Master of Ceremonies, band leader, writer of music and promoter of Marathons/Walkathons throughout the eastern and mid-western states. Just the year before, he married my mother and wrote a beautiful song entitled "Backstreet". There was a movie "Backstreet" about a woman who was the mistress of a wealthy doctor; she bore him a child and he and his society wife adopted the baby. The wife never knowing who was the real father. The mistress gave up the child in order to give it a chance in life and also so that she might remain a part of that life and while in immense sorrow, she remained the doctor's mistress until she died, alone and bereft upon her daughter's 21st birthday. In the song, she cries, "I'll be waiting backstreet for you...."

The song was ultimately recorded by Billie Holiday and has remained a force in my life ever since. Why? Because it speaks of love, a kind of unconditional love, an unrequited love, a love that lasts forever and I am a sucker for that kind of love.

Anyway, that explains the title of this Blog, in case you were wondering.

I am not sure how I will use this opportunity but hopefully it will be used in a good way; promoting kindness, peace and unity.

Republicans in New Mexico are pushing a bill that would force victims of rape or incest to carry their pregnancies to term if they wanted a sexual assault trial – and would charge them with a felony if their pregnancy was terminated.
This heinous bill would turn sexual assault survivors into potential felons and force them to become incubators of evidence for the state, robbing them of agency and making them relive their assault through pregnancy in order to “prove” their case.
